Unforgettable evening of world-class wine, seasonal flavours, and countryside calm at Heckfield Place

Just an hour’s drive from Oxford, we recently stumbled upon a place so quietly extraordinary, we felt compelled to share it. Set within 438 acres of gently wild meadows, ancient woodland and manicured Georgian gardens, Heckfield Place is not just a hotel—it’s a beautifully reimagined estate where nature, craft and quiet luxury come together in perfect balance.

This lovingly restored Georgian home has been transformed into a country haven where sustainability is central and every detail tells a story—from the organic Home Farm that supplies the kitchens, to the curated interiors and inspiring cultural programme known as The Assembly. Whether you come for a peaceful escape, an exploration of the estate’s walled gardens, or a deep dive into exceptional food and wine, Heckfield Place offers something rare: an experience that feels both grounding and extraordinary.

A SPECIAL REASON TO VISIT THIS SPRING

On 29 May at 6:30 PM, Heckfield will host an intimate wine dinner in partnership with Ridge Vineyards—one of California’s most celebrated wineries, known for its exceptional single-vineyard philosophy and its dedication to sustainable winemaking.

“Ridge Monte Bello is considered by many to be among the best wines in the world, and certainly among the most, if not the most famous, from California. Through its Monte Bello Cabernet-based bottling, Ridge helped show that California wine could compete with the most respected wines in the world.”

What sets this evening apart is its thoughtful approach: rather than matching wines to dishes, each course has been crafted to elevate the wines themselves, showcasing their full flavour profiles and character. It’s a sensory journey shaped by the Ridge philosophy, the terroir of California, and the natural bounty of Heckfield’s own biodynamic farm.

Throughout the evening, guests will hear the stories behind each wine, gain insights into Ridge’s meticulous winemaking methods, and learn how the ingredients grown just metres away on the estate have shaped the evening’s menu.

This extraordinary dinner is priced at £220 per person and marks the second event in an ongoing series of seasonal wine and food pairings throughout 2025, with additional dates to be announced soon.

If you wish to extend your visit, Heckfield’s six beautifully distinctive room types offer the perfect retreat. From intimate spaces within the main house to the most discreet and spectacular Signature Rooms, each is a peaceful sanctuary with its own sense of history and place.

During your stay, take time to explore the estate’s restored Pleasure Grounds, visit the Market Garden, or join one of the estate’s curated experiences—thoughtfully designed moments that celebrate nature, creativity and wellbeing.

This is not just a dinner—it’s a chance to step into a different rhythm. A place where time is honoured, flavours are celebrated, and the landscape itself plays host. Tickets are limited and advance booking is essential.
